Study on Breakdown and Self-healing Performance of Metallized Film
Film capacitor has important applications in such fields as DC transmission
rail transit
pulse power device due to its small size
high energy storage density and good safety. The commonly used dielctric material of film capacitor includes biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films. In this paper
two types of dielectric films are taken as the research object
the inlfuence of metal layer thickness on the breakdown strength and self-healing performance of the film are studied by vacuum evaporation to prepare metallized films with different square resistance. The metallized film of both polymers is manifested as that reducing the thickness of the metal layer can improve the break-down strength of the film to a certain extent
and the self-healing energy is statistically significant and increases with the increase of voltage
while the self-healing energy of the high square resistance film is smaller and the self-healing performance is better. Repeated self-healing is also observed in the experiment with the occurred cause is explained.
