Poly(vinylidene fluoride)-based polar dielectrics are one of the most promising materials to attain high energy density in metallized film capacitors
and the self-healing characteristic is critic al to perform ance. The scale-up films and capacitor prototypes of poly(vinylidene fluoride)/polymethyl methacrylate(PVDF/PMMA) blend are fabricated and their breakdown strength
self-healing energy and et al.were compared with polypropylene through investigations on electric strength test
microscopic observation and calculation. It is found that the breakdown field shows a decline about 21% in the scale-up films
and the capacitors present a further decreased breakdown strength(54% of breakdown strength of films). The self-healing area of PVDF/PMMA is larger than that in poly propylene.Further equivalent circuit model has been established to describe the self-healing process of PVDF/PMMA metallized film capacitor.
