Virtual space vector modulation（VSVPWM）method is used widely in order to balance the neutral potential of DC side of point clamp（NPC）three-level inverters. However

under the condition of high modulation ratio

the existing optimal VSVPWM method has weak effect on neutral point potential control and the design is complicated. In view of above issue

the improved VSVPWM method based on reconstruction of virtual vector is proposed. The proposed method not only realizes the precise control of neutral point potential under high modulation ratio

but also the uniform vector sequence in each large sector. The proposed modulation method is compared with the traditional method through the simulation experiment. In addition

the reconstructed virtual vector is extended to the five-partition VSVPWM method with traditional vector region division. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method is verified by the theoretical analysis and simulation result.
